    About GlassBase

GlassBase is an independent platform for the US window, door and glass market. We run a directory of companies in the industry, a window energy calculator and a library of guides. We do not manufacture, sell or install windows.

    What we do

    • Company directory. Window and door installers, dealers and manufacturers by city, brand and project type in Windows and Doors. Profile-system, glass, hardware and spacer brands are in Brands, and component suppliers are in Suppliers.
    • Window energy calculator. The calculator estimates a window's U-factor, SHGC and visible transmittance and its yearly heating and cooling savings at your ZIP code. The method and its assumptions are published on the calculator page.
    • Guides and news. Explanations of ratings, standards and products in Resources, and industry news in News.

    What we do not do

    • We do not manufacture, sell or install windows, doors or glass.
    • We do not test or certify products. Our calculator results are calculated estimates, not NFRC ratings, ENERGY STAR certification or proof of code compliance.

    Where our data comes from

    • Weather: NREL TMY3 typical-year hourly data for 1,010 weather stations, matched to the nearest station for each ZIP code.
    • Window ratings and criteria: definitions and limits from the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) and the ENERGY STAR program of the US Environmental Protection Agency. See Window energy ratings in the US.
    • Products: frame, glass and spacer values published by profile-system and glass manufacturers, stored in the GlassBase product database.
    • Companies: many profiles were created by GlassBase from information companies publish on their own websites. Companies can update their own profiles.

    How companies are listed

A company can register at glassbase.com/signup. New registrations go through moderation before the profile is published.
