What a window brand means: profile, glass, hardware
A finished window carries the name of the company that assembled it, but its performance comes from several components, each with its own brand. The profile system forms the frame and sash in vinyl, aluminum, wood or composite. The glass and the spacer bar make up the insulated glass unit. Hardware covers hinges, locks, handles and operating systems. GlassBase lists all of these brand categories, along with reinforcement profiles, laminates, fasteners, software and production equipment.
Compare systems by U-factor and SHGC
Brand names alone do not tell you how a window performs. The energy efficiency calculator estimates whole-window U-factor, SHGC and heating and cooling savings for your ZIP code, so you can see how a profile and glass combination behaves in your climate before you contact a dealer or fabricator.
Each brand profile on GlassBase includes an about section, stats, certifications and contact details. If a term is unfamiliar, the glossary explains Low-E, spacers, U-factor, SHGC and other product and performance terms in plain English.
