Ultrafab Moves to Bigger Spartanburg Facility, Betting on Southeast Manufacturing Growth
Ultrafab, Inc. has relocated its South Carolina operations from Greer to Spartanburg, marking a significant expansion of the weatherseal manufacturer's U.S. production footprint, according to Roto Window and Door Technology. The move positions the company to better serve a growing concentration of window and door manufacturers in the Southeast while consolidating manufacturing and distribution under one roof.

The new facility spans roughly 114,000 square feet, including approximately 54,000 square feet of production space, 54,000 square feet of warehousing, and 6,000 square feet of administrative offices. The site sits along Interstate 85 with close access to an inland port and regional airport — logistics advantages that matter in a market where lead times and supply chain reliability remain top concerns for fenestration manufacturers.

Ultrafab has been a subsidiary of Roto Window and Door Technology since late 2022. The Spartanburg facility consolidates weatherseal production lines that were previously spread across multiple locations, and the company says it can accommodate up to 50 manufacturing machines running 24 hours a day, five days a week.

The consolidation also frees up space at Ultrafab's headquarters in Farmington, New York. The company plans to use that capacity to support new product launches in its Extruded Components and Specialty Products divisions, with new production cells targeted for rollout in 2026.

Beyond weatherseals, the Spartanburg site will serve as a distribution point for Roto window and door hardware. That hardware is manufactured at Roto Frank of America in Chester, Connecticut, and Roto Fasco Canada in Mississauga, Ontario, with some product sourced from Roto's international plants. Stocking both product categories at one location lets customers order weatherseals and hardware together and pick them up on a single schedule.

"The new distribution center for Roto hardware and Ultrafab sealing products will operate on the same 24/5 schedule as manufacturing," said Alan DeMello, President and CEO of Ultrafab. "This gives our customers real flexibility — they can pick up orders whenever it fits their workflow, without being locked into traditional shipping schedules."

Marcus Sander, CEO of Roto Window and Door Technology, called the investment part of the company's long-term North American strategy. "We are strengthening our local system expertise," Sander said. "It's a key part of consistently delivering the right match between hardware and seals for our customers."

The facility opened officially in mid-April with an event that included customers, manufacturing partners, and Ultrafab employees.

The timing is notable. Window and door manufacturers in the Southeast have been expanding capacity in recent years, driven by strong residential construction activity in states like South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, and Florida. Proximity to those customers reduces shipping costs and speeds up delivery of components like weatherseals, which directly affect a window's air infiltration performance and ability to meet ENERGY STAR and building code requirements. As manufacturers face continued pressure to hit tighter thermal performance targets under updated energy codes, reliable access to high-quality sealing components becomes a more critical part of the supply chain.
