Kömmerling USA showcased a range of German-engineered window and door systems at GlassBuild America 2026, including products now manufactured in the United States. The display highlighted how the company is adapting European-style fenestration systems for U.S. fabrication, performance requirements and construction practices.

The booth included Kömmerling 76 MD window and door configurations, C70 and 76 casement and awning products, PremiSlide76 Beyond and PremiDoor sliding systems, AluClip Plus cladding, PremiStep20 threshold technology and accessibility-focused door thresholds.

Several products centered on the Kömmerling 76 MD platform. A tilt-and-turn window on display carried a performance rating of up to AW-PG65 and a listed U-factor as low as 0.13 Btu/(h·ft²·°F). The system uses a 3-inch installation depth and accommodates glazing from about 0.95 to 2.21 inches.

A French balcony door based on the same platform carried a rating of up to LC-PG50 and a listed U-factor as low as 0.16. Kömmerling also showed a 76 MD balcony door paired with its PremiStep20 threshold.

PremiStep20 uses a low-profile threshold with an installation height of about 0.81 inch, or 20 mm. According to the company, the system integrates with the 76 AD, 76 MD and 88 MD platforms and is designed to simplify fabrication and installation while providing a continuous frame around the threshold area.

The company also displayed its AluClip Plus system, which combines a PVC-U window or door profile with an exterior aluminum shell. The aluminum frame attaches with a floating clip connection that allows movement between the two materials as temperatures change. Kömmerling says the system can run through conventional production lines and can be added to existing 76 and 88 system configurations.

Accessibility was another focus. Kömmerling showed a 76 MD entry door with a zero-threshold configuration designed for ADA-oriented applications. The outswing door carries a listed rating of up to CW-PG55 and a U-factor as low as 0.16. The threshold includes an integrated rain gutter and is intended for applications such as accessible housing, health care facilities, senior living and hotels.

For higher thermal-performance projects, the company displayed its Kömmerling 88 window system. The 88-mm-deep platform carries a rating of up to AW-PG60 and a listed U-factor as low as 0.12. It can accept glazing from roughly 0.95 to 2.28 inches and is positioned for projects with demanding energy-performance requirements, including Passive House construction.

Kömmerling also presented products aimed at more familiar North American operating styles. Its C70 awning window opens outward from top hinges, while its Kömmerling 76 casement uses a side-hinged outward-opening configuration. Testing for the 76 casement system was scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The sliding-door portion of the booth included PremiSlide76 Beyond and the PremiDoor 76 lift-and-slide system. Kömmerling listed the existing PremiSlide76 at up to CW-PG50, while testing for the Beyond version was scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026 and thermal test results for the first quarter of 2027.

PremiDoor 76, meanwhile, carries a listed performance rating of up to CW-PG30 and a U-factor as low as 0.17. The system supports large openings, with maximum white-panel dimensions listed at approximately 21 feet 4 inches wide by 8 feet 6 inches high.

The GlassBuild display reflects Kömmerling’s broader effort to bring systems developed around German and European window practices into U.S. production. Local manufacturing can reduce dependence on imported finished units while giving U.S. fabricators and project teams access to tilt-and-turn, high-performance PVC-U and large-format sliding systems with dimensions, installation options and testing aligned more closely with the North American market.
