dormakaba Acquires Azure Access Technology and Apollo Security to Expand U.S. Access Control Business
dormakaba has acquired the operating businesses of Azure Access Technology Inc. (Azure Access) and ADME, Inc. (Apollo Security), expanding its access control portfolio and its ability to serve OEM partners in the U.S. market. The companies signed and closed the transaction on August 14, 2026.

Founded in 2019 and based in Newport Beach, California, Azure Access develops electronic access control hardware for the U.S. commercial market. Its open-architecture controller platform allows original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and software providers to integrate and customize access control technology for their own solutions.

Apollo Security, also based in Newport Beach, develops and manufactures access control and integrated security systems. Together, Azure Access and Apollo Security employ about 30 people and serve access control companies worldwide.

The acquisition supports dormakaba’s plan to expand its U.S. component business. While dormakaba has historically focused on engineered solutions sold as a bundle, the company plans to strengthen its portfolio of open components, including electronic locks, readers and controllers. This approach gives OEM partners more options to combine dormakaba hardware with their own software and systems.

Azure Access’ platform also allows software companies to deploy controller panels and accessories under their own solutions and introduce new features to customers. Its open architecture can help partners shorten development and integration cycles. Apollo Security adds an established installed base and experience in access control and integrated security systems.

“Our acquisition of the assets of Azure Access and Apollo Security will accelerate the development of next-generation access control solutions and advance our components strategy in the US,” said Till Reuter, CEO of dormakaba. “Going forward, we will strengthen our open component portfolio – including locks, readers, and controllers – to OEM partners, a customer segment we are now well positioned to support.”

Evan Zinger, Executive Vice President of Azure Access and Apollo Security, said joining dormakaba will give the businesses additional resources to expand adoption of their technology and accelerate product development. “We are thrilled to join dormakaba and to take our platform to the next level,” Zinger said.

For dormakaba, the transaction creates another route to market in the U.S. access control sector and broadens the company’s role as a component supplier to OEMs and software providers. The parties have agreed not to disclose the financial terms or other details of the transaction.
