Kawneer Launches MetroView® 4-SSG Window Wall to Meet Growing Demand for High-Performance Glazing

Kawneer has expanded its window wall portfolio with the launch of the MetroView® 4-SSG Window Wall, a unitized system designed for mid- to high-rise multifamily, office, and institutional projects across North America.

The new system supports larger, uninterrupted glass spans — up to 5 feet wide and 14 feet tall — making it the largest glass size available in Kawneer's window wall lineup. That capability responds directly to a growing architectural trend toward maximizing daylighting and views while maintaining a clean, curtain wall-like appearance.

"We designed our latest MetroView® Window Wall to accommodate taller lights of glass while maintaining the thermal performance and structural capability embedded in all our MetroView® Window Wall products."

The MetroView® 4-SSG is engineered to support compliance with regional energy codes across diverse climate zones. For projects in dense urban areas or along busy corridors, the system also delivers enhanced acoustic performance to reduce exterior noise transmission — a key requirement in multifamily construction and urban commercial development.

The system is designed to meet current seismic performance requirements, supporting projects in earthquake-prone regions. Hurricane impact testing is planned for later in 2026, with Florida Product Approvals (FPA) and Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) certification as target milestones.

As a unitized, inside-glazed system, the MetroView® 4-SSG minimizes wet sealing on the job site. Fewer installation steps help glaziers work faster and more predictably, which matters on projects with tight construction schedules.

The system is manufactured using low-carbon aluminum with at least 50% recycled content. The remaining material is sourced from hydroelectric or clean energy smelters, giving project teams a credible option for responsible material selection without sacrificing performance.

The MetroView® 4-SSG integrates with Kawneer's broader architectural aluminum portfolio, including the 2000T Terrace Doors and GLASSvent® UT (Ultra Thermal) Windows. That compatibility allows designers to source a complete, coordinated building envelope from a single manufacturer — reducing coordination risk across the project.
