ASSA ABLOY Buys Jamestown, NY Door Hardware Maker Classic Brass
Swedish security and access solutions giant ASSA ABLOY has acquired Classic Brass Inc., a US manufacturer of premium cabinet and door hardware, the company announced. The deal adds a niche, American-made decorative hardware brand to ASSA ABLOY's residential portfolio.
Classic Brass was founded in 1996 and employs about 80 people. The company's headquarters and manufacturing facility are based in Jamestown, New York — a city with a long history in furniture and hardware production. The business will now operate as part of ASSA ABLOY's Residential Business Segment within its Americas Division.
According to ASSA ABLOY, Classic Brass generated sales of roughly $17 million in 2025, with a solid EBIT margin (earnings before interest and taxes, a standard profitability measure). The company said the acquisition will add to its earnings per share immediately, rather than after an integration period.
Nico Delvaux, President and CEO of ASSA ABLOY, said the purchase fits the company's strategy of growing in established markets by adding complementary products alongside its core business. Lucas Boselli, Executive Vice President and Head of the Americas Division, described Classic Brass as known for handcrafted, design-focused hardware built on domestic manufacturing and made-to-order customization. Boselli said the company's ability to produce distinctive, custom pieces appeals to architects, designers, builders, and homeowners looking for non-standard options, and that ASSA ABLOY intends to keep the brand's artisan approach and personalized service intact.
The acquisition gives ASSA ABLOY a foothold in the premium, made-to-order segment of cabinet and door hardware — a category distinct from the mass-produced hardware lines that dominate much of the US market. It reflects a broader pattern in the building products industry, where large access-solutions companies are expanding beyond core door and security hardware into adjacent decorative and architectural product lines.
ASSA ABLOY did not disclose the purchase price. The company describes itself as a global leader in access solutions, with roughly 64,000 employees worldwide and 2025 sales of approximately SEK 152 billion (≈ $15.9 billion).
